What Kind of Christianity: A History of Slavery and Anti-Black Racism in the Presbyterian Church
Dr. William Yoo, Associate Professor at Columbia Theological Seminary, will join us for a thought-provoking class on the history of slavery and anti-Black racism in the Presbyterian Church. Drawing from his book, What Kind of Christianity, Dr. Yoo will examine how many Presbyterians, both North and South, were complicit in supporting or ignoring slavery and racial injustice. This class will challenge us to confront this painful history and reflect on how it shapes our responsibility to pursue racial justice today. If you cannott make it in-person this event will be recorded for later viewing.
Breakfast will be served in Bonnell Hall. If you would like to join us for breakfast please RSVP here.
A discussion of Yoo’s book, What Kind of Christianity: A History of Slavery and Anti-Black Racism in the Presbyterian Church, will take place prior to this event. If you would like to attend the book discussion register here.
