Womanist Proclamation and the Arts

Black art is often considered for its political refusals, but what if black women’s artistic expression is seen as more than resistance to anti-blackness?  What if we behold the creative works of black women as a form of theological utterance, as proclamation? Join us for an introduction to womanist theology and an exploration of black art as a site for wonder and grace.

Rev. Dr. Andrea C. White is Associate Professor of Theology and Culture at Union Theological Seminary and Theologian-in-Residence at The Riverside Church in New York City.  Her research fashions a nexus between womanist theology, black feminist critical theory, and phenomenology.  We hope you’ll join us for breakfast and this insightful lecture. No signup is necessary.

This event will be held in person. It will be available on demand afterwards on both YouTube and this page.
