Facilities Update: What’s Happening in the Church House
This year the seventh floor of the Curry Church House, which has been leased to a tenant since 2014, is coming back into the fold. The growth of our ministries—particularly Fifth Avenue Young Adults (FAYA) and community groups—has created a need for more office and meeting space at the church.
“FAYA has doubled in size under Sarah Speed’s leadership, and after a long Covid pause, our community groups are back and more active than ever, thanks to Ashley Gonzalez,” says Senior Pastor Scott Black Johnston. “Meeting, office and storage space has been tight for quite a while. It’s time to make room for growth.”
The facilities team is busy updating the seventh-floor space with new carpet and a fresh coat of paint. The space will be immediately available for FAYA and community group meetings, even as the staff determines how best to use the additional square footage. Groups interested in reserving space on the seventh floor may contact Donna Ketchledge ([email protected], 212 247 0490 ext 314).
Meanwhile, the renovations planned for the kitchen facilities in Bonnell Hall are on hold as we await the necessary city permits. Updates that did not require permits, such as new LED lighting and installation of new appliances, have already been completed. We are hopeful that the remaining renovations will begin in mid-February and be completed by mid-March.
The Chili Cook-Off will likely be held in Bonnell Hall as scheduled on Feb. 12, but other events and activities will be relocated. Details will be announced once the renovations are underway.
