Welcoming Virginia Goss to the Staff
Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church is delighted to introduce a new member of the staff.
Virginia Goss is the assistant to Executive Pastor Charlene Han Powell and program coordinator for Family Ministries, 20s+30s and Adult Education. She is the staff contact for scheduling baptisms, announcing births and adoptions, coordinating weddings and reserving space for church events.
“I was drawn to this church for many reasons, but one is rooted in the welcome announcements on Sunday mornings,” Virginia says. “I will attempt to quote: ‘We certainly don’t think alike, or believe alike, yet we come together every Sunday.’ I am inspired to be part of a church that embraces a diversity of voices that come together to glorify God.”
Virginia grew up near Atlanta in Dacula, Georgia (“Folks back home would say I’m a Georgia peach”), where she attended a Presbyterian church and a Southern Baptist high school. She went to college in Memphis, where she found a home at Idlewild Presbyterian. She served as the assistant director of youth ministry at Idlewild before coming to Fifth Avenue.
Virginia earned a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from Rhodes College (she was a classmate of Morgan King, our director of engagement) and a master of divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary.
You will find Virginia on the fourth floor of the Curry Church House, or contact her at [email protected] or 212.247.0490 ext 3023. Please reach out and welcome her to Fifth Avenue!
