Fifth Avenue Serves, our all-congregation day of service, returns on Saturday, May 7. Details below!

Be the hands and feet of Jesus for our annual day of service. Fifth Avenue will mobilize volunteers across our community to serve our mission partners, including new partners who joined us during the pandemic. Volunteer Sites

Meals on Heels
Saturday, May 7 at 8:30 am and 11:00 am
Meals on Heels prepares and delivers home-cooked meals to homebound seniors every Saturday throughout the year. This walking ministry provides 55 – 60 meals to seniors living on the Upper East Side to Stuyvesant Town/Peter Cooper Village, and the West Village.

There are 2 volunteer assignments. 5 volunteers will be needed for the prep team at 8:30 am to assist in the meal preparation (cooking, packaging, cleaning). An additional 5 volunteers are needed at 11 am for the delivery team to bring meals to guests who signed up for meal delivery. The delivery team is a walking ministry. Please note, participants may need to use their Metro card based on the meal recipient’s location. Register here.


Holmes Camp and Retreat Center
Saturday, May 7 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
This is a family friendly site

Volunteers will help prepare the trails and grounds of Holmes Camp for the Summer season. Register here.


The Farminary
Saturday, May 7 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
This site is family friendly for children 8 years old and up.

The Farminary’s mission is to integrate theological education with small-scale regenerative agriculture in the conviction that the skills and character vital to faithful Christian leadership must be formed in direct relationship with God’s good creation. A Fifth Avenue mission partner, every year the Farminary transitions from the cool season to the warm season. Volunteers will help with clearing beds, planting, transplanting, weeding, tending the compost pile, and other farm tasks. This is an outdoor activity, rain or shine. Register here.


Search and Care
Saturday, May 7 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am

Search and Care’s mission is to seek out older people in the community who need help, and to provide them with support and companionship. Search and Care needs church members for the Spring Callathon to phone and uplift older adults in NYC with a call that says “we care.” You will be provided with a Search and Care script and a call list to engage older adults in warm conversation. The volunteer shift is 90 minutes long.

Urban Outreach Center
Saturday, May 7 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Urban Outreach’s mission is to create spaces of justice centered hospitality where low-income New Yorkers can access the necessities and connections they need to thrive. The Urban Outreach Center of NYC has a big vision: to end the hunger gap in East Harlem and the Upper East Side. Since 2013, they have been a mission partner of Fifth Avenue. We will join Urban Outreach in their food pantry to help them reach their goal to provide 2,000,000 meals worth of food served in 2022. WANA Community Resource Center
*Friday, May 6th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Description: WANA’s mission is to provide support, advocacy, and other resources to people seeking safety from oppression and/or bigotry; facing the consequences of poverty and economic insecurity, including food insecurity and housing insecurity. This opportunity is centered on providing hospitality to shelter guests through conversation, meal service and movie watching. Register here.
